Update From June 23: I tried out the Alesis studio dock in the store last week; connected it to my ipad and speakers via the ipad doc connector. Then i compared the sound to another device that has sound output through the doc connector; the Tascam IU2
for the same price (in my store).
The Alesis sounds blurry. Certainly not usable for a live concert when you want to play something...
